Our First Trip Abroad: Israel 2004
For the last three years, BIll stopped taking tours to Israel. WIth 9/11, the war on terror, and then the Iraq war, he believed that it was just too dangerous. It is not worth the risk of somebody getting hurt. After taking several trips on his own, and by modifying the iternary to avoid dangerous places, he believed that he could start taking people back to Israel. This was his first trip in three years.
When I heard that he was starting the tours again, and that he believed them to be safe, I decided that I wanted to go. I am just starting with his Bible study, but I really wanted to understand the land, and to read the Bible in color. Plus, Pam had been wanting to go for years. So we sent in our applications. It was not a sure thing. There are always more people wanting to go than spaces available on one of Bill's tours. Most of us who went were suprized that we were selected.
The trip was ten days, and our first trip abroad. I will be including a link to the itinerary if I can figure out how. Getting there was pretty smooth. A very long plane ride followed by an uncomfortable bus ride, but no big hang-ups.
I took a LOT of pictures. Over 1,739, actually. I narrowed that list down to the very best ones (about 200), and put them up on the web site. They tell a story. Enjoy.
